About

My name is Richard Barry. I’m a retired politico/policy wonk. I’ve been around the music scene in Toronto primarily in the roots/folk community for almost 40 years, including in a capacity as board member for the Mariposa Folk Foundation, Folk Music Ontario, and the Canadian Folk Music Awards. More recently I have been playing alto and tenor sax in a big band and a smaller blues set up. I also write for Roots Music Canada reviewing new releases and writing festival, concert, and conference reviews. I think my musical tastes are fairly broad (who doesn’t?) including early jazz, swing, hardbop, rythym and blues, soul, rock, Celtic, folk and Americana. Blogging is my way of staying connected and learning.
